I’M BACK FROM 4 DAY CONFERENCE.
I promise I will reply to everyone soon. I am unpacking, catching up and going to bed early.
I’ll see if I can post a video of me walking on glass and also breaking a board with my hand. The idea was to overcome our fears and know that we can do anything.
I was the oldest person there, but I knew I was going to do it in one try. Numerous people-who were much stronger and younger-had to try several times. NOT ME!! 🙂

LEAVING FOR 3 DAY WORKSHOP-NO ANXIETY

I’m about to leave for a three day workshop. I realize my back will give out before my anxiety kicks in.
How much different my life is.

LESSONS I HAVE LEARNED THROUGH THIS STRESSFUL YEAR

It is a good thing having anxiety has made me the strong person I am! Facing what “we” do with anxiety, has helped me build the skills I need to survive in times of crisis. The things we learn from this “illness” can serve us well.

As a lot of you know, my life has been filled with stress for over a year now. First I lost my husband and almost all my income. I had to rescue my brother from “cult” in Hawaii and had to mentally, emotionally, and financially support him while he recovered.

My sister was finally diagnosed with lung cancer (way too late-should be malpractice) and died in March. I lost 2 cats and a dog. The state took a chunk of the property all of us kids inherited to widen the highway and told us it was worth less than we owed. My sister would not believe she was dying and didn’t make a will, so we can’t be paid the penitence they are giving us for many, many months.

A warning to you all. My husband and I had a will, trust and medical directives and it still took almost a year to get things settled out.

No matter how young you are, make a will! Also, make your decisions on life support and how far you are willing to go if you should become terminal. Put it down and get your medical directive signed and notarized. I put a note on the back of my license telling people where to find mine, a copy in glove box of my car, and a copy with two sisters and my son. I’ve been told paramedics look on your refrigerator for instructions and information about your health and medications so you might want to add it there.

I told the Universe ENOUGH IS ENOUGH but yesterday my niece was diagnosed with aggressive breast cancer. Surgery is scheduled for Wednesday. She’s terrified of not watching young her children grow up.

She has decided to combine standard medicine with nutraceuticals, other holistic therapies and family energy. On Sunday, we will gather as a family and hold a healing prayer circle.

I already know you will be there for me. I want to thank you in advance. I don’t think there are a nicer group of people than my “tribe”
Love to all of you,
Polly

TRIED EVERYTHING FOR ANXIETY-NOW BOYFRIEND LEAVING

Need some advice. I’m 22 years old and I’ve had anxiety my entire life. When i was younger and didn’t understand what it was, it manifested itself as aggression. Now i have continual panic attacks and my thought process is truly horrific and debilitating. I cant work, i have no friends, i cant function.

I’ve been to many inpatient hospitals and seen a million different psychiatrists and therapists and been on most meds for most everything. None of the doctors seem to listen to me. I’m depressed and anxious and i cant function on a day to day basis. My anxiety is crippling me.

I just started a new job and got a new bf who is amazing but im pushing him away because hes had to deal with my panic attacks and weird thoughts. My job is an easy one but stressing me out to the point where i shut down. I started seeing a new psychiatrist and he just put me on Valium, which i don’t want to take because it knocks me out.

I just desperately want to get a hold of this. I want to keep my job and I’m terrified of losing this incredible man (he said he wants to take a break because he cant deal with my anxiety). I want to be able to function and live. Does anyone have any advice or anything to help me? I’m really at my wits end.

BFFA Reply: My husband left twice, but always came back. Living with us can be a real pain. I asked him why he came back point blank our our anxiety webinar. You’ll find the answer interesting. Plus, you will learn why you have all the symptoms you have, why you were aggressive, why your drugs haven’t worked and more.

Josh and I thought of all the things we wished we would have known when we were suffering like you. Just go to the webpage and hover over my photo. A box will pop up. Fill in and you will get our free webinar. Most people cry with relief.

Also, you can ask question on my fb pg and also our next free anxiety Q&A call is Tues. This is our passion. Actually, unless you want to talk live, I think I will read your post to our Anxiety Coach on the next call because you have several different, interesting issues. We love challenges.
Love, Polly

ANXIETY STARTING IN COLLEGE

We have found a common time for people (with and without genetic anxiety) to tip over into anxiety and panic attacks, is during their college years when stress and expectations are high.

TEENS FIRST PANIC ATTACK

Hi, I’m a 15 year old girl and i never knew I i had anxiety til 3 weeks ago. I has a massive anxietypanic attack and it freaked me out so much. After i had it i was forcing myself to be sick think that the ‘feeling’ was going to go away. Since then i have been suffering from derealisation and its really getting me down.
I just want to feel normal again. It hasn’t gone away from me since that night its like I’m living in a dream & its really getting me down now. I have a councilor/mentor and they are really helping me but don’t see me that much and don’t understand. What can i do?
????
BFFA Reply:

I was 7 when my anxiety kicked off, my son 5 and my father 16. I’m betting there are others in your family who have anxiety (they may try to hide it because they think it is a “mental illness”. Which, for almost all of us it is NOT!.

If you go to my FB page you will see the last Q&A replay call. Listen to it. Then go to our webpage and watch the webinar. You are so young and this is so new.

We want to catch it right now when you haven’t don’t much “imprinting” . It will be so much easier and faster for you to get back to “normal”. Hang in there. We know how to help.

So I found the love of my life 3 years ago…. He’s a welder. Yep, we travel… A lot. I can’t really make a commitment to any jobs, so I don’t work right now Which is okay and I definitely appreciate him taking care of me… But… I’ve struggled with serious depression in the past and being so dependent of him and having so little to preoccupy myself with ( no kids or anything) I feel like I’m loosing it. I get upset over EVERYTHING now. In the past I’ve consistently busied myself with school an work to keep heavy emotions at bay…now, I’ve become more anxious than ever and my self worth has just plummeted. I feel like I sacrifice so much pride and dignity living like this- does anyone here have any suggestion or at least have experience with the same kind of lifestyle? I feel so silly being so emotional, every one tells me I’m lucky an don’t understand why I have issues with it. And it’s not his fault at all! He’s a wonderful, supportive guy! But this lifestyle just kills my soul. Help please!

BFFA Reply: Your plea for help is not silly.

We’ve found that most of our patients have genetic anxiety. It actually is a gift of nature and comes with a bit (or a lot) more intelligence, creativity, sensitivity and better looks than average.

The bad part for you is that you are probably quite intelligent and need stimulation. Without this stimulation, I’m guessing you turn your intelligence into looking at yourself, your feelings, what is going on in your head.

This following idea is not the solution for gaining control over your anxiety symptoms, but it is helpful. You need to find something you love to learn about or do. Get on your computer, go to the library, try the bookstore. Find something you think will really, really interest you.

Develop yourself. You can learn a new language, take courses online or if you stay long enough, at the local college. Art has a way of taking your mind into another space. There are classes and workshops everywhere.

I’m taking my grandson to a glass fusion class one day a week for four weeks. In the meantime, we plan, design, draw, look at all the different glass in the store.

My sister-in-law (with anxiety) is taking real estate courses online. She has a plan to work with someone else as a team. The parts she isn’t ready to do, the other team member will do.

Just remember, we have minds that need to stay busy. If it has nothing else to do, it is likely to set up its little soap opera inside of you!

PRICKLY PINS AND NEEDLES FEELINGS

Anyone ever have prickly (pins & needles) patches on face/head/arms/etc that come and go?

BFFA Reply: Absolutely. They are caused by the blood being shunted around from one place in your body to the other when the chemistry of anxiety goes in.

The fight or flight response is pretty incredible. Once you understand what is happening, it isn’t so frightening. Actually, we’ve come to really appreciate what our bodies can do for us in the belief it is saving our life.

The prickles come when the blood supply is reduced, particularly in the hands and face, because your body knows if you are in a fight, those parts are likely to get hit and bleed. So, in its wisdom, it cuts the blood supply back in those areas. At the same moment, it moves the excess blood to the big muscles to run and fight. Pretty amazing. The same exact chemistry can do different things in different parts of the body.

Our problem is we are not really in a life threatening situation and the sensations can go on and on. Once you get your anxiety under control, which is what we help people do, those symptoms slip away.

In the meantime, be amazed-not afraid.

Love, Polly PS our next free anxiety Q&A call is Thursday, June 4 (tomorrow) at 12 pm Pacific. We’d love to discuss this with you on the call (but no pressure. you can just listen)

MY HEART DOCTOR SAYS MY HEART IS FINE BUT PRESCRIBED BETA BLOCKERS.

I’m 23 year old female, 3 children and for the past few years I’ve been suffering people say it’s anxiety but I’m not sure, I can always feel my heart beating fast, I had blood tests done and Echo doctor said its fine but I have tachycardia, he prescribed beta blockers but I don’t want to take them…
My heart rate in the morning is 74bpm then I start doing things around the house like dishes laundry Etc and it goes up to 126 and then I’m measuring it all day long.

BFFA Reply: I remember when I felt every heart beat plus mine skipped, raced, and had compensatory beats. If your doctor has cleared you for heart issues and has said it is anxiety, then treat it as anxiety.

I think your hesitance to take beta blockers is good. You intuitively seem to know that you don’t want to be covering symptoms. Remember, my husband Dr. Meyers, always said that symptoms are your body’s way of talking trying to tell you it needs something to get and stay calm. Once I gave my body what it needed, all the heart issues went away.

By the way, there still is no good test for anxiety. The best we can do is eliminate big issues, like a heart attack, and then see if your symptoms fit into the list for anxiety.

The good news is the gaining control over your anxiety symptoms is pretty easy and if done properly, causes no side effects.

CAN YOUR PROGRAM HELP WITH SERIOUS HEALTH ANXIETY? BFFA Reply: I can tell you…

CAN YOUR PROGRAM HELP WITH SERIOUS HEALTH ANXIETY?

BFFA Reply:
I can tell you that the BreakFree Program gets to the root cause of your anxiety and helps your body get and stay calm. Many, many of your symptoms will go away (those coming directly from the chemistry like heart, stomach, and bowel issues). You will know what is happening, why, and what to do when the chemistry of anxiety fires off.

Although Josh and I very rarely have anxiety, if we do we can gain control very quickly now, where before, it might have been more than a month. So, in that respect , the program can really, really help. Let’s just say for you, the BreakFree Program alone can bring you down from an 8 or 10 to a 4 (on a scale of 1 to 10). That would be huge for you and the quality of your life.

For some people the BreakFree Program is all they need and they go on their merry way. We have many people that go to a 0 or 1 or 2 just with the program.

Because the chemistry of anxiety actually “imprints” on your brain to be afraid of anything that happens while having a panic attack, (it can be something like a smell or even color… you didn’t even notice at the time) Whatever was around at the time the chemistry fired off, can become a trigger.

That is when the coaching Josh does, becomes so helpful. Once your body is calm, it is so much easier to “unimprint” the fears you have built up. He helps people take the steps necessary and then teaches them how to undo each fear. By the way, once you learn to undo one, the next fear to unimprint is easier.

As part of my anxiety, I had a terrible fear of vomiting-myself or anyone else (even if just viewed in a movie) would send me into a terrible spiral. I mean serious spiral, lasting a month or more.

Today, it is so much better. When my husband was dying, he was vomiting and I was able to hold him and take care of him. Such a long way from before.

So. my answer to your short question is a big YES. First the big thing, as an example, heart attack symptoms will go away. But you will probably have to do some CBT work to unimprint any side fears you have built.

Love, Polly

The other day I went to the Emergency room as I felt like I was having a heart attack. I had a dull ache/pain in the left side of my chest and pains in my left arm the hospital did an ecg and blood tests, all came back normal and clear but Ive still got a tight chest.

I have suffered with anxiety for a while now and I know it can cause many things including chest pains. Has anyone else experienced chest pains with pains in their left arm? I’m going to go to docs and get them to run more tests.

BFFA Reply: A lot of my husband’s patients had heart symptoms. As scary as having a heart attack is, we tend to want our symptoms to be a “REAL” disease, rather than anxiety.

I can not tell you how much money people spend trying to convince doctors they don’t have anxiety.

Now that I am on the other side, I’ll take anxiety over a heart attack any day. I think the statistics are…. 50% of people with a first heart attack, die.
